I have the honour to acknowledge the re-

ceipt of your telegram of the 18th. instant concerning the

proposed appointment of a third Buildings Overseer, and to

attach a copy of the telegraphic reply which I sent to you on

the 28th. instant.

The enclosed copy of a minute by the

Director of Public Works explains my reasons for not concur-

ring with your suggestion to appoint an Inspector of Buildings,

instead of an Overseer, on the higher salary mentioned by you.
